Holy Week at Redeemer

Holy Week, the seven days before the feast of Easter, is a time in which we gather to remember and participate in the Passion of Jesus Christ – and is charged with meaning! The Passion was the final period of Christ’s life in Jerusalem, which spans from when He arrived in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, to the eve of His resurrection.

“Holy Week brings us face-to-face with the great question, why must this happen? What is all this suffering about? But deep down inside of us, we already know what the life of Jesus and the days of Holy Week confirm: there are some things worth living for, even if we find ourselves having to die for them as well.” [The Liturgical Year by Joan Chittister]

At Redeemer, we thoughtfully plan several special gatherings throughout this week to re-enter each moment of Christ’s journey and intentionally reflect on the meaning of His sacrifice. By doing this, we are able to arrive at Resurrection Sunday with hearts full of gratitude and a deeper understanding of what our victory in Jesus means for our everyday lives! We encourage your family to participate in the events of this week as much as you are able. Let’s encounter the living God together this Holy Week!
