Joan F. Marques says:

“Life is like walking a tightrope:
A balance between turning inward
Often enough to find your happy core
And focusing outward
Often enough to care a little more.
Leaning too much inward
May make you aloof and narcissistic.
Leaning too much outward
May make you bitter and pessimistic.
Keeping balance fuels life with hope.”

Faith in all things

It is so important to find the right balance in our inward and outward lives but even more important is ensuring faith is part of both. When we put all of our faith into God, the rope will hold us. As Christians we should trust that God will carry us across the tightrope of our lives. When our trust or faith falters, that rope can give way and we can teeter on the edge. But when we’ve put our full faith in God, walking across that rope couldn’t seem any easier!

Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding”. This scripture says that our own expectations can get us into trouble. God wants us to trust him wholeheartedly and fully depend on him.

God gives us balance

When things in our lives don’t make sense, our first instinct is to shut ourselves away from others which can make us feel alone. This is where a more inward focus can cause problems. But, spending too much time outwardly focused can actually make the issues worse. A lot of negativity from the outside world can seep in. This is where balance is crucial and trusting in God can keep you moving along the tightrope of life. We can trust God in any situation and while that sometimes isn’t easy, it’s what gives us the balance we need.

“in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:6
